1. The Chairman, has his strengths in Geopolitics in the region. As Chairman of NVMC, Mr. Khan maintains relationships at the highest levels of the Pakistani Federal government, and the local tribes in Baluchistan through his Muslim heritage and roots.

NVMC has worked with a top down and ground up model of integration in order to not leave any party out, but also employed a hub and spoke model of negotiation with each of the stakeholders in order not to offend any one of them within Pakistan. In the past territorial disputes over the assets as well as power struggles between the Federal and Provincial Governments prevented a unified coalition to sponsor financial and economic development.

NVMC believe that Balochistan can become the next Chile or Mongolia, once its socially inclusive model of investment starts to bear fruit and the mines start to operate, where the locals can actively participate through employment.

Baluchistan has become the center point for the Middle East and China’s strategy to link Europe and the Middle East to its new trade corridor. It has signed a multi-billion dollar agreement with Pakistan in order to develop the city of Gwadar and its port to become the largest port in the Middle East and South Asia.

Likewise Saudi Arabia has just signed a $2 billion dollar agreement to develop the natural resources of the Baluchistan and KPK provinces.

Part of this goal is to be enable the transportation of resources from the Middle East and Central Asia to Western China. A key component of this strategy is to develop the natural resources of Pakistan and Afghanistan. Due to concern within the Pakistani establishment, China’s direct investment into the mining sector has been under close scrutiny. As a result NVMC is the first company in nearly 8 years that has obtained exploration licenses as well as clearance from the security agencies to drill in metals. Due to its proximity to China via a land route, these assets provide an off-take opportunity of high importance for China and also for other countries in Asia.
